2000-2001 ANTI-RACISM AND EDUCATION:
SCHOOL-BASED PROJECTS

Introduction
School Projects

Introduction

Following the success of the projects
completed in the 1st year (99/00) a notice was placed in the Head Teachers Bulletin inviting all schools to submit project proposals for 2000/1 focusing on recommendations contained in the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry Report. A maximum of £8,000 was made available to fund each project with a total budget of £110,000 and *new guidance listed below was provided.

Experience

 Experience from 1999/2000
showed that schools which had the support of external organisations for training, staff development, report writing found that this was invaluable. The 'burden' of report writing and general management of any project can often be seen as an onerous task, when added to the existing roles and responsibilities of head teachers and staff.

Therefore schools were informed that there was an offer of external support and advice available.
