Show Racism the Red Card

Show Racism the Red Card is an anti-racist charity, which specialises in producing educational resources. These include videos, a DVD, magazines, posters and education packs. The aim of our project is to combat racism through the use of footballers as anti-racist role models. We are fortunate to have the backing of many top managers and players. This is the seventh successive year that we have run an anti-racist schools competition and we have found them to be an extremely useful way of encouraging young peoples' interest in anti-racism.

Greater understanding and awareness

We take pride in being one of the most culturally rich and diverse boroughs in the United Kingdom. Our policy statement on equality and diversity sets out our commitment to promoting good race relations in Tower Hamlets.

The challenge for schools is to engage with stereotypes and all forms of racial discrimination, in a systematic way, ensuring that all pupils/students, staff and governors have a greater understanding and awareness of discrimination and racism and the knowledge, skills and ability to deal with them effectively. All members of the school community should be encouraged to be open to change, choice and development.

We hope that this website will provide a range of resources and ideas, which will support schools in developing their work in this vitally important area. If you feel that you have something to contribute, let us know! We want the website to reflect the wealth of good practice in Tower Hamlets schools and to respond to your needs.
