Achievements:
|
The focus groups of pupils, parents/carers, staff (teaching and non-teaching), governors, were highly successful, achieving their aim of highlighting existing good practice, while exposing gaps in the curriculum, policies and practices within the school in the area of anti-racism. While there is clear evidence of progress made by the school, the report recommends that all staff and volunteers receive anti-racist training sessions managed by the external consultants in collaboration with the staff on the Train the Trainers course This will enable them to take full part in the formulation of their own Race Equality Policy, along with policies and practices for dealing with racist incidents in a consistent and appropriate way, while building upon the school’s anti-racism work with the pupils. A programme of staff/governors awareness and training, pupil/parent/carers awareness will take place in the 2002. |
