Programme Summary
Philosophy for Children encourages children to develop their own views and help them develop their intellectual confidence. During sessions the teacher and pupils share an initial 'stimulus', usually a reading, and devise questions they want to discuss related to the initial stimulus. The thinking and discussion that takes place in the sessions helps children learn to be clear in their thinking and to make responsible and more deliberate judgements, basing them on reasoning. Sessions can be used to explore more general philosophical issues such as change, personal identity, free will and truth.
